Pricing guide

What does a plumber cost on the Gold Coast?

Honest ranges and what drives the cost. We don't do exact prices on a website because every job is different, but these ranges are what you should expect from any reputable plumber in 2026.

Our pricing rules

  • Free quotes during business hours, no callout fee
  • Every job quoted fixed-price in writing before any work starts
  • After-hours emergency rate told to you on the phone before we leave
  • Variations only quoted in writing if the actual job changes scope (e.g. unexpected hidden damage)
  • Workmanship guarantee in writing on every job

What different jobs typically cost

Emergency call-out (after hours)

Rate quoted on the phone before we leave
  • After-hours rate higher than business-hours service call
  • Fixed price for the actual repair quoted on-site, before work starts
  • Genuine emergencies during business hours = no emergency rate

Burst pipe repair (single break, accessible)

Typically $250-650 + parts
  • Where the pipe is (exposed easy, under slab expensive)
  • Pipe material (copper, poly, PEX all different)
  • Whether the wall/floor needs opening and re-closing
  • Length of pipe to replace

Blocked drain, eel/snake only

$250-400
  • Length of drain run
  • Access points (cleaning eye vs. roof penetration)
  • How blocked (partial vs. full)
  • Note: eel clears the blockage but doesn't fix the cause, comes back if entry point isn't repaired

CCTV + jetting + report

$500-900
  • Drain run length
  • Severity of root mass or buildup
  • Whether multiple passes needed
  • Includes before/after camera footage and written report

Pipe relining (per linear metre)

$300-500/m
  • Pipe diameter
  • Number of bends in the run
  • Access from cleaning eye points
  • Resin type (UV vs ambient cure)

Hot water system replacement, gas storage

$1,800-3,200 supply + install
  • Brand and tank size (135L vs 170L vs 250L)
  • Whether existing flue/cabinet can be reused
  • External vs internal location
  • Any electrical work needed

Hot water system replacement, heat pump

$2,500-4,500 supply + install (after STC rebates)
  • Brand (Sanden, Reclaim, iStore, Rheem AmbiHeat)
  • Tank size (160L vs 250L vs 315L)
  • Whether concrete pad needed
  • Electrical work for new circuit
  • STCs + state rebates can knock $1,000-$2,500 off

Bathroom renovation plumbing scope (mid-tier)

$6,000-9,000 plumbing portion
  • Keeping the same layout (cheaper) vs. relocating fixtures (more involved)
  • Wall-mounted vs deck-mounted tapware (wall-mounted has tighter rough-in)
  • Number of fixtures (most renos: 4-6)
  • Premium tapware (brass, matte black PVD) costs more to fit precisely
  • Hidden damage uncovered at strip-out (add $2-3k contingency)

New build plumbing, full scope (mid-tier 4-bed home)

$20,000-32,000 (production); higher for custom
  • Number of bathrooms / wet areas
  • Number of gas appliances (cooktop, oven, HW, BBQ point)
  • Hot water system type chosen
  • Acreage vs. town water (acreage adds tank/pump/septic = $4-12k more)
  • Mains gas vs. LPG
  • Block grade (deep sewer connection = harder)

Gas cooktop install

$450-950 install + compliance
  • Whether a gas point exists in the right location
  • Length of new gas line if needed
  • Cooktop brand (some require specific commissioning)
  • Includes compliance certificate (mandatory in QLD)

Leaking tap repair (per tap)

$80-180 + parts
  • Washer/cartridge type
  • Whether the tap body needs reseating
  • If you have multiple taps to do at once, the per-tap price drops

Why no exact prices?

Anyone giving you an exact plumbing price over the phone, without seeing the job , is guessing. Plumbing jobs vary too much: how old the house is, what condition the existing pipework is in, whether the fix is straightforward or hits hidden damage, access difficulty, brand of fittings, time of day. Honest pricing means coming out, looking properly, and giving you a written quote based on what we actually see.

What we can do over the phone is give you the realistic range so you have an idea before we come out, and tell you the after-hours rate before we leave if it's an emergency call.

How to compare plumber quotes

If you're comparing quotes from multiple plumbers (which we encourage), make sure you're comparing apples to apples:

  • Is the quote fixed-price or hourly?
  • Does it include parts, or are parts on top?
  • Does it include GST? (It should, be wary of \"plus GST\" added later)
  • Does it include compliance certification (mandatory for gas, sometimes for water)?
  • Is it written, or just verbal?
  • What's the workmanship warranty?
  • Is the plumber QBCC-licensed and insured? (Ask to see the licence number.)

The cheapest quote isn't always the best one. A $200 saving on the quote that turns into a $3,000 rework in 6 months is no saving at all.
